Forteans (Testa Fortis) are a species originating from the planet Fortmass.

History[]
Nothing much is known about Fortmass' species history. From Fortean sources, they evolved from large reptiles who lived in mines of metals, the most common being aluminium. They gradually adapted to it sometimes melting after volcanic eruptions. After millions of years, the aluminium alloy became a genetic part of the species, which subsequently divided into various different species, the most advanced being the Forteans, as they are known by Humans.
Forteans possess quite advanced technology. They have colonized most of their planetary system.

Fortean languages tend to contain many fricative sounds. Most of them also lack verbs.
Biology[]
Forteans are large, reptilian humanoids with red skin. Their strength is greatly enhanced by the aluminium shells which gradually became a biological part of them. The shells have retractable spikes. Forteans are distinguished by their scarce hearing and powerful smell, as well as their bones made of a strong, cartilage-like material enfused with magnesium, aluminium and other metals.

Just like Humans, Forteans have front-facing eyes, as they prey on small amphibians and reptiles native to their planet.
